Experiential Workshops

In the context of the AUGE Project, a series of Experiential-Interactive Workshops with an environmental focus were designed and carried out.

The Workshops, which addressed primary and secondary school students, were offered for free, and aimed, on the one hand, to cultivate the students’ ecological consciousness, and, on the other hand, to motivate them to express their environmental concerns through a multimodal approach.

In the context of the workshops, the participants had the opportunity to watch the entire paper recycling process and make their own paper, learn about issues related to climate change and soft (renewable) forms of energy, be introduced to the art of animation and make their own “green” film about Antarctica, create their own engravings and make gifts for elderly people who live in Nursing Homes using natural materials, “gifts” inspired by Cyprus tradition, “listen” to nature and use music to help them create audio stories, and much more.

The first Workshop, which was on herbs, was held during the school year (May 2021) in collaboration with the Pernera Primary School, at the Municipal Multipurpose Centre of Nicosia. All other Workshops took place after the end of the school year, during the month of July, at the TSCC and Kimonos Art Center in Paphos.

Although the AUGE Project primarily addresses primary and secondary school students, three experiential music workshops for the 70 children who attend the Lythrodontas Public and Community Kindergarten were also held with great success in the context of the Programme, in October 2022. After the completion of the workshops, with the financial support of the AUGE Project, a botanical garden was created in the school’s premises. As an extension to these environmental actions, the children were asked to create drawings with recyclable and other materials, which were printed in the form of cards, to be sent to elderly people during Christmas.
